Software / Resolved: Windows Bluescreen of Death (driver issue)
« on: August 13, 2015, 00:43:24 AM »
Hey folks,

hitherto I had this one with STEAM only (since about 4-5 months) - complete crash after 2 - 10 minutes after STEAM was launched (or any game from it). Now, it happened to me in MC for the first time, see the image below.

I already spent hours reinstalling my drivers and/or updating them when it started; no success. I googled it and couldn't find much helpful info, just the usual "update drivers" advice and "NVIDIA is evil k plz". Did all the updating again.
Luckily, this time I could take a quick photo of the blue screen before it disappeared. Can anyone here help me out with this problem? Any fix? It's becoming more and more of a problem...

Thanks in advance

Minecraft / A deadline for Erebor
« on: November 01, 2014, 18:34:55 PM »
The next deadline is approaching: In 40 Days, the last of the 3 Hobbit films will have its premiere, and Erebor shall  be complete then!

Well, first and foremost the main parts; details and additional features will be added as we go along, but until December 11:

the outer mountain sides
the 6 slopes leading towards the mountain
the industrial area
the reshaping of the front entrance way
the changing of the right hand statue at the entrance (needs to be taller)
the construction of a second dwarven statue on the left hand of the entrance (mirrored)
and the construction of a third statue with the hidden door on the side of the mountain

are to be finished.

It's your last chance to lend a hand, participate and get to be mentioned in one of the greates MC projects ever realised (go ask le French).
We mainly need building help and creative minds for the statues, but a short film about the Erebor (JC's is 6 months old now) or any other kind of support are also welcome.

Everybody, stay away from the sand mountain. Especially when I'm working around there. I regard everything that throws over my plans or changes to the area without my approval as griefing.

I have exact plans for this and i will ask for help and give DETAILED instructions on what to do if i need help.

I'm so going to get this game once it goes a bit lower, but for now, Planetary Annihilation is available at the Humble Bundle Store for just $40 for just 24 hours. Although it's still in beta, it's an amazing piece of software.

But dont listen to me, watch these trailers and then throw your money at the devs:

Hardware / New build
« on: November 19, 2013, 07:30:30 AM »
Hey all,

over the past 2 years or so I've been saving up some dosh; I finally need a decent desktop pc - and a mic, I admit.

I will need it for work, using CAT and maybe CAD tools, lots of text production and database stuffs; at the same time it should be capable to handle high end graphics of the latest games.

What I thought so far:

I'll need
  • 3 HDDs (if possible) - a small one for win7, about 500GB for work and 1TB for private matters and STEAM (is it still preferable to have windows on a separate drive?)
  • USB 3.0, AVG, HDMI, BluRay OR DVD burner, standard audio jacks
  • RAM. Lots. Dunno what's the latest there, it's been a decade since I last set up a machine
  • a new mouse with a proper mat (something both for work and play (maybe PTT button on the side), mat: not that high speed teflon crap)
  • a new mic. Greeky suggested a desktop one, I'll go with one of these I think

As for the case - I don't really care how it looks, as long as it serves me true. Fan noise doesn't botter me too much, but it's nice to not to hear them.

It should also be as quiet and energy efficient as possible - I know that these machines eat up tons of electricity, hence "efficient" and not "low intake". the less, the better.

My budget: about 800 British Pounds, roughly 950 Euros (here again, the cheaper, the better)

I'm confident that you guys can help me with this build :)

Minecraft / Iron Spawner Maintenance
« on: November 11, 2013, 21:45:50 PM »
I'm currently putting all the villagers back in and try to find and kill all golems that have spawned in places they should not have. For now, I've cut off the iron supply to check if the rates are improving after servicing some pads or not.

I will also half-slab the access ways during the next few days and replace the tons of glass that have been broken up there

Might be done by tomorrow.
