lastest tf2 update
« on: February 17, 2009, 16:01:58 PM »
CHANGED YOUR STEAM ID!!!..

more details

 * Sticky bombs now get a reduced close range damage ramp up (like Rocket Launcher & Syringe Gun)
o Ultimately reduces damage done by sticky bombs to enemies <512 units from the Demoman
* Moved the unlockable system over to the new item backend:
o Added a warning dialog to the loadout screen telling clients when the server they’re on could not get their loadout
* Made “tf_damage_disablespread” a replicated convar, so clients can see the value of it on the server they’re connected to
* Renamed “mp_stalemate_at_timelimit” to “mp_match_end_at_timelimit”, to better explain its function now that stalemate is optional
* Fixed muzzle flashes & shell ejections still playing when viewmodels are hidden
* Server tags can now be used to include or exclude servers from the list

Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source

* Protected several more commands from client exploitation

EDIT: More changes that weren’t documented:

* Removed `equip` console command. (Allowed to switch loadout items without entering the menu.)
* Switching loadout items will not happen unless the character suicide or get to a supply cabinet. (Spawn area does nothing when switching.)
* Removed Natascha’s ammo belt in first person view model. (Preview: Natascha #1/Natascha #2)
* The `exit prompt` command now gives a warning message. (Usually bound to F10.)
* A new main menu music has been added. (Title: Faster Than A Speeding Bullet)
* Demoman’s bottle taunt has received a new `burp` sound.
* Demoman’s secondary weapon has been renamed to Stickybomb Launcher.
* It seems all SteamIDs now start with Steam_1 (instead of Steam_0).
* Several people have reported that their (old) demos don’t work anymore.
Cheers and Good Game

The scout update also announced. Coming on the 24th. And this time I think they are actually telling the truth!

Yay

[edit] You can't double jump while carrying it

lol
lol

lol...

I hope it means just while it's the weapon you have out. If so, not much of a drawback. If not, ridiculous drawback.

The Sandman is very well designed for 'Goldbowl'. In any other map, losing the double jump is a real bad thing. But in goldbowl, with spammy bottlenecks a double jump won't help you get through it. Popping round the corner and batting a ball at the enemy team is more likely going to make the Scout more useful to the team during these bottlenecks.
Countering the uber is just an added extra touch methinks.

This also means there is now no chance of the pistol unlock being a baseball (as was continuously suggested on their forums). So looking forward to the next two weapons.

a) I hate Scouts.
b) If you can double jump with the bat 'switched out' then it's like no penalty at all really... So presumably, it's no double jumping at all if the weapon's 'on your person'.

Well, I personally think removing double jump sounds stupid. But we'll see.

I also think a stun effect, i.e. removing control from the player is a bad idea, and Valve said it was something they didn't want to do as well when it was frequently suggested for a spy upgrade.

Ultimately won't know what to think until I've played with and against it. I imagine it might be useful against heavies, snipers and engineers sat behind a sentry (stun him so he can't repair it and then your team can take it out).

Also scout rushes with the Sandman.

i don't think the uber counter is a good idea, if it completely stun the heavy, the uber is just wasted and knowing that in some maps areas, ubers are the only way to go through, i think it will be very frustrating ... i.e. at the end of bad water, a (good) scout camping a spawn can stop for a long time any uber coming
so i think the stun idea is interesting but not for ubers

Guys, you lot are forgetting something. Player movement interferance is also done with rockets, airblast and sentry knock back, not to mention natasha. I dont think this will be such a big thing, look at nat, yeah she slows you down, but you can still aim, shoot and generally get out of the way (99% of the time).
My Youtube page of goodies!

i found nat really frustrating since the fix, especially when you are a scout ... you almost can't move anymore at close range (or is it just me :P)

No it's not just you. Since the buff you almost can't move at medium range, and at even at long range it hits enough to be annoying.

Good point on soldier rockets and sentry knockback though.

but if I understood well, when you're stunned you can't fire, you're just a puppet waiting to be killed...  right ? and in that case it's very different from nat, rockets or knockbacks

Do you think that other scouts will be able to bat the balls back again?

Tennis anyone?

I guess the pyro will be able to compression blast em back too.

That would be amazing if other scouts can bat the ball back.

Anyone know why Natascha’s ammo belt in first person view model has been removed?  Same for the err, other one too I think.
