i played a bit of this earlier and started to understand what was going on after a few games. I'm still not entirely sure of all of the rules, but i got the basics i think:
- The guys with bright blue skins are your Teammates, everyone else is an enemy.
- At the top (middle) of the screen is says how many points your team has got in your collective pot.
- The numbers above peoples head tell you how many points they're worth if you kll them (enemies and Teammmates)
- You can "Betray" your teammates by shooting them with alt-fire (blue beam) and then you steall all of the points in your team's pot.
- However your teamates then have 30 seconds to get revenge on you, and if they do, they get the points instead (i think).
- When you have betrayed your team they no longer appear with a blue skin, and the number above their heads turns green to show that they are the people trying to get revenge on you. The number above your head turns red on their screen to show that you are the one they are trying to get revenge on.
- After the 30 seconds are over, you are assigned to a different team and a dagger appears next to your name in the scoreboard to show you have committed a Betrayal (an extra dagger appears every time you Betray)
So basically the best tactic seems to be kill as many people as possible to build up the pot, then choose the right moment to betray your teammates (and hope you don't miss, because then they'll realise and try to betray you instead). You then need to avoid your former teammates for 30 seconds to make sure you keep the stolen points.
I have to say, having tried Betrayal, Greed and the new Warfare maps i had most fun playing Betrayal (even tho i didn't know what was going on at first) untill my packet loss made it unplayable
