The nervousENERGY Community Principles and GuidelinesIntroductionnervousENERGY is a Community of like minded people who have fun playing on-line multi-player games. We provide a web site and forum, irc chat rooms, voice comms and high quality game servers that are administered by real people in a fair and courteous manner.
We facilitate and resource co-op and MMO gaming, maintaining squads, guilds or any structure a game runs with. For the more serious players we also run teams which represent the Community by competing in various leagues and ladder competitions. But most just come and go, chill and have some fun as they please.
General Principles and LeadershipAt the heart of
nervousENERGY is mutual respect. Reasonable courtesy and politeness are the basis for all chat, talk and game-play.
Our Community Leaders (CL's) have the final authority. A significant potion of their powers and authority is handled by our Community Officers (CO's) , who are often the first line of action or re-action. Both CL's and CO's operate with the reciprocal input from and cooperation of the Contributors.
Specific roles and authority can be delegated from time to time, like squad or guild leadership and server or forum administration.
Whatever happens, we strive to keep it fun and friendly. Life's too short and this is only a game!
Community MembershipIt's free and open to all who wish to take part. The only requirement is that you abide by our principles. You need not always play on our servers, wear a tag (see below), or join us on Mumble / TeamSpeak, but you will most likely get more enjoyment from being part of a friendly place online.
We sometimes hold fun events, gatherings and internal scrims for Community members and will be rolling out new membership benefits from time to time.
FundingThe
nervousENERGY Community is a not for profit organisation, funded by voluntary contributions. All contributions go towards our running costs. When we get more than needed one month it rolls over into the next and we keep some back for the shortfalls.
We must of course live within our means and because contributing is not compulsory, all amounts, large or small, are greatly appreciated.
Those that contribute on a regular basis, not only get a lovely warm feeling, but also a say in how the Community is run and some perks like access to reserved game server slots and irc Op status.
Forum, irc & Voice CommsThe
nervousENERGY forum and voice server are primarily for the use and enjoyment of the
nervousENERGY Community. Some areas have restricted access, like those for the Match Squads, but in general it is open/viewable to all and available to everyone who wishes to register.
As with any public arena, general good etiquette (see ref.1) applies. Being public, our General Principles are very important. Their proper application means nothing really needs adding in relation to the forum, but specifically:
# no excessive flaming or abuse;
# avoid content/chat inappropriate to minors.
What is excessive or inappropriate is determined by the CL's and CO's as the need arises. The private Match Squad areas are moderated by the squad members themselves.
Public Games ServersThe
nervousENERGY game servers are primarily for the use and enjoyment of the
nervousENERGY Community. Their game type, number and configuration will change from time to time, but they shall always be run in line with our General Principles.
Their proper application means nothing really needs adding in relation to the forum, but specifically:
# no chat or voice comms spamming.
# no griefing;
# don't idle repeatedly or too long;
#don't accuse someone of cheating without a demo and/or witnesses;
# If another player is mis-behaving, ask them to stop;
# only kick a player after they've received reasonable, clear requests to stop and a warning that they'll be kicked;
# no chat, voice comms, nicknames or sprays inappropriate to minors.
Guilds, Teams and SquadsWe have guilds, teams and squads to offer a competitive edge and different gaming experience to the those that want it. Such gaming is very different from public play in terms of ingame playing style and the commitments you have to give.
The sole purpose of our these groups is for the enjoyment of those Community members who want to participate. What that constitutes is determined by the current membership, as guided and directed by their leader(s). It might be based on winning, playing new or known clans/guilds, social scrims, promoting the good name of
nervousENERGY or most likely, some combination thereof.
Our General Rules of Engagement:
# we always undertake raids/matches with unquestionably reliable good sportsmanship and
fair play;
# we always turn up for a raid/match or give reasonable notice;
# we never quit during an ongoing raid/match;
# we always express good manners before, during and after a raid/match.
These groups are a highly visible part of the
nervousENERGY Community, so members carry extra responsibility for upholding our principles. That is especially true when they're wearing our tag (see below). Membership of a guild, team or squad is at the discretion of the squad leader(s) and can be revoked for inappropriate behaviour, which is most likely, but not solely, breaking our principles.
Guilds, teams and squads might have their own rules and regulations or terms and conditions by some other name, specific to their game(s), the places they play and company they keep. These can be vital to the success of these groups and should be respected by the Community at large. They are enforceable by the group's leadership. At all times, such group rules and regulations shall remain subservient to these Community P&G's.
TagsThere are three types: Community, Guild/Team/Squad and those games that have none. The latter need no further comment. Unfortunately for the actual tags, due to issues with different games/networks, these vary from game-to-game, Steam-to-non-Steam and history-to-the-present. If in doubt, please ask. Here are a few:
UT Community: <<ne>> in front of your nick;
Community on Steam & irc: ne| before or |ne after your nick; before works best, but it's your choice;
TF2 Match Squad: .:ne:. in front of your nick.
Community members are very welcome to wear the tags. You don't need to ask or get permission. Simply play, chat and mingle in the spirit of our principles and guidelines.
Wearing the tag makes it easier to spot who you are and gives those joining a game server a good feel for the place. That's not necessarily even on one of our servers. It can help spread the good message of what is
nervousENERGY.
