Good CTF maps for Greed
« on: March 28, 2009, 19:09:51 PM »
CTF isn't a gametype I play so whats good was isn't I dunno

But after seeing 'Ebay' post at Epic I downloaded 'CTF-GRD-HeadRush'  great map for a laugh - so its on the server

So 'if' you come across any more stick them in here or let me know about them  ;)

or if theirs any off the 'stock' CTFmaps we should have on let me know too

I was thinking more along the lines of DM maps.
I don't play BFA that much, so don't know what are the best DM maps. Could you suggest the ones you think might work well in Greed, and I'll see if I can start converting some. Stock maps only.
Are there any good stock DM maps?

saw this earlier. It was my favourite CTF map in UT99  :D
I reckon it would work ok for Greed too (though i'm not really a big fan of CTF maps for Greed, weapon lockers ftw!)

yeah I hate having to look for weapons, especially in greed because you could potentially be spawning whilst the enemy are camping your base, not that I would know anything about that, not like I have ever done it, god no, wouldn't know how to, no way I could be that lame, not like I did it the other night for ages & ages or anything  8-)

Ok lets see. All these could work in theory, but I have not actually tried them in Greed yet! So don't take my word for it.

HOLP 1
HOLP 2
CTF-1on1-TrainingDay
CTF-Sabr
CTF-Hosh2
CTF-FacingWorlds-Classic
CTF-FacingWorlds][
CTF-Jugo
CTF-Dreary3

Ok, on second thoughts, forget FacingWorlds (both versions). They play really badly in Greed.
TrainingDay is good for some mental fun, although you spawn at the other teams flag base, so it's kinda like Duel. But that doesn't quite work in Greed, since you have to go out, get a kill then go back to your spawn which could lead to camping.

Sabr is great gameplay and looks great too. Hosh2 is good too.
Jugo is all about the look, the positioning of the flag base means it'll be quite interesting to play. Might be a disadvantage to those that have all their settings set to max. Plays good though.
Dreary3 has some strange weapon placements (2 stingers right next to each other in the centre?) It's a pretty simple layout, symmetrical in both axis.

Had some time to test both the HOLP packs in Greed:

HOLP1:
CTF-Lopo - OK, good size for 6v6. Theme is slightly samey throughout.
CTF-Haco - Nope, has an awkward layout and bottlenecks too much.
CTF-Turbo - Yes, refreshing theme, open areas, although a little hitscan spammy.
CTF-Ultra - OK, lots of z-axis, bit small for 6v6. Either this or Turbo.
CTF-Hosh - good, although Hosh2 works better.
(CTF-Hosh2) - Yes

HOLP2:
CTF-Cardinal - Yes, very big map, 6v6 no problem. Unique theme too.
CTF-Razor - No, bottlenecks too much and is too bright.
CTF-Vogel - OK, simple and small. Similar to Lopo.
CTF-Yoghurt - Cool, very interesting style, feels like you can scrape your knees on all the surfaces

Is CTF-LavaGiant still on the server? I gave it a go and it's pretty bad in Greed. Should be taken out tbh.
