CTF-ArenaRelic [Greed] [DM-OceanRelic conversion]
« on: June 08, 2009, 17:34:23 PM »
Possibly one of the simplest conversions I've done. In fact I wonder why Epic didn't just release it like this in the first place. This map is basically just for fun. It has loadsa different pickups and gimmicks that are entertaining when you just feel like messing about.

Download: CTF-ArenaRelic

Conversion notes:
# Replaced Redeemer with Cap point
# Moved floaty tank cap point thingy lower to the ground
# Replaced spider mines with Redeemer
# Placed team spawns randomly around the map

The cap point is upside down, on the ceiling where the Deemer used to be, which you need to swim up to. Removed the spider mines for obvious reasons and placed the spawn points randomly (interlaced) so it feels a little closer to DM gameplay.

nb: it took me about 20mins to do the conversion, then about 1 hour faffing about with map names, screen shots, ini's and filehosts  :snooty:

Yeah, one cap point arena style.
Swimming up is the conventional but slow way, alternatively the 2 jump pads on the outside edges send you right to the top of the water tube thing quickly.

Flows ok, bots play it well, but it's for low player counts (but handles more players than Darkmess).

I really like the idea of only having one capture point.

Only issue I can see with this is that because it is pretty small, skulls will build up quickly. But because there is no death traps to purge the extra skulls games could end really quickly with medium-high player counts.

So tactics are; Stop the other team capping skulls.

I shall camp the skull collector so, actually its gonna be very hard to cap, you move quite slow through that thingie
