my x-fi works fine with win7, rc and rtm.  i'd ignore the MS advisor

well the X-fi doesn't work very well with UT3 either so I don't know why I was  :'(

My X-fi does mostly work, but occasionally causes glitches in tf2 where the game freezes up for a few seconds.  Never happened in XP.

I turned my xfi off, I use onboard sound and tbh I cannot see any difference, anyone want an xfi card just shout

Zeus you updated the driver and the openAL plugin. It helps alot ;D

Like all Microsoft products, best not to get advice about it from the horse's mouth. :) Also glad to see that Creative has continued their reputation as having some of the most incredibly shit drivers in history. They really are starting to give late 90s ATI a run for their money.

tbh the creative sound cards are dying.  I don't see many games these days with special settings for Xfi.  I think it's a mixture of the games being designed for the consoles first (which don't have Xfi) and the fact that even amongst PC owners it's not popular (I remember seeing somewhere it was in something like 3%).  Combine all that with the fact the drivers are pants and you can see why game devs don't bother.
