If I'm being honest I feel seperate avatars, that must only be used by certain people, smacks of this sepratism and elitism people in other threads have been desperate to avoid!

Nice slice of hypocrisy anyone?  Does it really matter if a community player uses the blue avatar or I fancy running around with the fancy flame ridden one for a while?

Meh, whatever.

As far as I saw there was a little mistake in the "match team" bit (if I have misread it or am lacking of english language, then blame me).

I'm fine with adding the red and blue ones to the guidelines; and I think we should also do a vote on the official community one and maybe even find one for the other games played here.

Oh, and btw: since I'm a poor bastard that can't afford paying for servers, see this spammy thread as my contribution to the community. (avatars are now official courtesy of "ne")

How does that compare with the limitation on using the clan tag?  Tag restrictions cross games & communities, so I'm not focusing on TF2.  Should it not be the same for avatars?

That's what I'm questioning, do we need tag's and avatars to be seperate?  Can't the tag specify 'match player'?  Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me, just questioning the need for 'Guidelines', I mean, seriously?  It looks nice when we play a match that we're all tagged the same but I wouldn't begrudge ANYONE using the 'blu team tag', go for it.  We gonna start banning people from the com server 'cos they tagged up like a squaddie?  Welcome to the playground people.

The avatars and tags are for uniformity. Noone can say it doesn't look awesome when all six of our players in game have the same tag and avatar all the way down the scoreboard.

It's to distinguish between community/team players also because a lot of the tagged up members have admin powers, whereas very few community members do. You'd be surprised how often young community members believe being a part of the community allows them to dictate what is and isn't good behaviour on the server.

... just questioning the need for 'Guidelines', I mean, seriously? ...
Without a guideline on something, at some point it pops up and becomes an issue.  Without a common reference point in writting, it's amazing how often such issues turn into problems. Note that ours are Guidlines & Principles, not Rules & Regulaions, which I feel is more accommodating. Communication is king.

...  We gonna start banning people from the com server 'cos they tagged up like a squaddie? ...
Not on my watch.  I'd explain/ask/persude.  I believe that Steam is making clan avatars just as 'respected' as tags, in terms of who wears them.  Most peeps will come to realise that in my opinion.

It is more a fact of we say "That's not how it works, community members put |ne after their name. If you wanna apply to the team speak to LC" these days. It will never be a ban for tagging up incorrectly.

Oooh, ooooh, could you make me one with the blu ne avatar as the base maybe, with 'Monkeh' in the middle? That's really cool. Good job.
