so yeah, there's a couple of connection fixes there, but I dunno if there's others pending

edit: I supposed you've tried disabling uPnP? Though since you mentioned you never open ports, I assume you've got that disabled anyway?

I get the "connection to the server has been lost, check your network settings & try again" when I try to join a server, can see pings etc.. but cannot join, its not just me either, players are going nuts on the EA forums, its funny to read tbh

Surprised you haven't managed to get it to it work?  I have win 7 64 bit, router, steam version and it works (although I have to start steam as administrator to see pings).  Didn't think your setup was anything special?  Have you tried taking machine to work and just quickly running it from there to see if it is your router/internet connection?

I can connect to lots of other games so its an EA issue for sure

that's a logical fallacy, those games might use different ports, different protocols, and have different network characteristics, it could be triggering a faulty anti-DOS rule in a crappy router, it could be triggering a faulty NAT special-case rule, it could expose a flaw in your network driver, there's a million and one things that can go wrong on a home computer that only reveal themselves for certain programs, which aren't that program's fault

or it could be an EA issue, yes.  Just saying you can't assume that.

My router is fine for all other games, I tried all that port forward crap & it didn't work, EA have explained the network error message I get as being their problem, which they are working on

So I can indeed assume that, in fact I don't assume anymore I have now brought my assume status up to actually knowing  :)

Seems v odd. I played for the first time yesterday, without having to configure anything on my router (though uPnP may be enabled) and windows firewall prompted to ask if BFBC2 could have access, but I only noticed after I closed the game.

I'm not suggesting it's not something that EA can fix, but there must be *something* about your set up that is causing this problem?

The way I figure it is this - I can play all other games online so its an EA issue, I will wait for them to fix it or just get my money back, I can't be arsed trying out lots of stuff
