Noobs or not
« on: March 20, 2010, 11:43:57 AM »
was reading this about the star ratings

Quote
the more gold stars you get for the 40mm grenade, the more of a noob you are i have read

Quote
It shows how skilled you are with a certain weapon.

Or how much of a noob you are if you're using the noob-tube or M60.

But surely your a noob if you don't use them  ::)

Its like saying 'if' you dont play with one eye closed and the keyboard upside down and use your foot for mouse control your a noob.

All weapons r there to be used, yes some make it easier, all can be countered, its not like you get invisibility or invulnerability when you use them.

I will be using the noob tube and M60 when I've got Platinum stars for them well I might change - but surly you use the best weapon for the class your playing for any given map.

If you snipe with any weapon except the shotgun your a noob  :P

was going to post in the forum but the lads balls had yet to drop  >:D

some of us oldies need the easy path  ;)

thats how i play every time ;)

srsly, the real noobs are those people that refuse to use those weapons. imo it takes alot of skill to kill with a 40mm on a 100 yards distance - maybe they suck at using them and that's why they're saying that it's a noob weapon, who knows?

People complain in every game.  There was lots of complaining about tubes in MW but if you looked at the stats the top players didn't use them that much, and that wasn't because they weren't being *noobs* it was just because they weren't the most effective weapon.

tbh like most games tactics > all.  Top players could still get a good score with a rubbish gun.  People who can't take loosing just whine - give them exactly the same kit as that top player and they'd still loose.

* DeathByDribbling is quite happy to be a *noob* and use the tube.  Of my 550 kills with assault only 150 are with the tube.

I don't think you get what they are saying about the Grenade Launcher...

M60's bother me more than nades.

I find playing on hardcore servers fixes the problem though, as every one has such little have even the weakest weapons kill swiftly.

I don't really mind M60. But It's like 90% of the medics I meet, do use them. Bit weak to be honest, seeing as it is rather overpowered, comparing to the rest of the LMG's. But I guess they want some easy kills. Instead of going the extra length and try out any other LMG.

The MG36 doesn't have an iron sight, it has a reddot sight by default. So you can use any other specialisation like ammo upgrade, light weight, grenade upgrade or the medkit heal+

I either use the MG36 or MG 3 LMG when I do play medic.

The 40MM grenade launcher doesn't bother me. Until my killcam tells me, he's sitting with a couple of ammo kits by his side and with the extra grenade upgrade specialisation just tubeing away.

Had the same thing when playing Counter Strike, using of the 'awp' was noob as it was a 1 shot kill sniper rifle. Imo if you can use a weapon to devastating ability then why not keep using it? Its up to the other players to figure out how to beat you with better tactics rather than using the same thing over and over and over...

Cant wait till i get a comp and the new games! PWNAGE!

Just started using this lovely weapon ( as got my platinum noob M60 award  ;D ) less recoil too.

In fact for the reasons you stated and the way it handles and faster reload times, I would say its better then the M60 in some ways. But the standard sight on it is really good  ;D

Indeed, it is better than the M60 in some ways, I agree with you there. And I'd choose the MG36 over the M60 any day. I must say the MG36 is very unique to the rest of all the LMG's

I do feel the MG 3 is nerfed a bit too much. I love the sound, love the speed of the bullets you can get down range. But the damage is just blergh... Never the less, I still use the damn gun! Especially in smaller maps (Conquest) I find myself using it a lot, when I do go medic.

Seeing your chat had a go with the vanilla M36.  It's certainly not "unique" - according to the stats it's a nerf'd MG249 with a built in red dot sight.  That said as a vanilla gun with no mods it might be the best as red dot sight could be considered more useful then the MG249's higher rof, lower recoil and bigger ammo belt.

I tried it with the two medikit upgrades and they rock - so I can see if you were playing medic as a medic and trying to keep people alive particularly when defending some spot it would be a good combo.

according to what stats? Official released hard-facts about each weapon? Or some random user, on some homepage who just happened to do some vague calculations?

I've know more people who's seen 2 or 3 of these stats-threads and each with different results.

I don't rely on numbers that aren't directly from the developers themself. So I'd rather go with what fits me best, and what works for me.

I also like the F2000 assault rifle, but I've also gotten quite a few "Why the hell?" because they don't seem to like it. But it works for me. o/

I agree there are several stats sites and they don't have the same damage numbers, I tend to go by this one:
http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/
I think you can be pretty sure they didn't just make them up, they've extracted the numbers from the game files.  This isn't the first game for which Denkirson has done this.

Anyway they all say that the M36 is a nerfed M249 with a build in rds.

was thinking of trying the two medi kits wondered 'if' it made much difference - also if you drop one in a choke node then die then come back as assalt you still get the medi points from the medi kit you dropped I have noticed - not sure how long it lasts though or if when you drop the ammo box the medi kit goes!
