Wanna start a tradition @ lans!

Ok, last time at i-37 we all had a great time! However my only "erk" was we didnt do enough socialising. Socialising with you lot (for me) is one of the big things i love about been in this community. So i propose we start an Tradition..

The night after the first offical night (so say early bird is thurs, fri is offical night opening, i say on the saturday night we have a ne drinking session together. Either in the bar (expensive) or at the tents, were we all get together and have a good old fashioned drinking session in true NE style.

Then every year (or lan) we repeat this. This (imo) would make a brilliant night and would often get talked about, it would be great.

So whos man enough and in with me? (would be boring on ma lonesome ya see)

while i would love to have a good old drink around the tents in 'good old NE style' i'd be a little concerned as the whole of the venue is licensed.  Also, let's not follow i37 by having a few bottles smash on the floor

I was mercing today for dakka and they were chatting about i39 with the security there... they said about one of um being stopped and searched when going in and having his beer taken away.  So there's something else to think about.

I don't want anyone to get chucked off site for breaking any licensing laws / site rules, so perhaps a mellowed down version of the 'good old NE style'.

As one of the non British-born folks I'd just like to add my "fuck the rules" 2 cents this thread as a matter of principle. The tents are essentially in an completely open area, right?

Yes.  Security guards might wander around occasionally, but I'd not expect them to get involved with any reasonably behaviour.

I actually think they'd be very quick to step in and stop people drinking their own alcohol.

The bar sells (or at least, has at the last two lans, afaik) packs of 18 bottles of some spanish beer for £15. Those who drink a fair bit seem to buy these.

The security was based at entrance points to the secure area and I didn't see any near the camping area.

Nah seriously, i doubt we will have any trouble and from the sounds of it, it wont be just NE, but others will no doubt join us
