I've not had a look at the 460, but the 5830 is worth a look. bridges the gap between the 5850 and 5770. Scan have the 5830 for ~£158

Na, the £150 GTX 460 is faster/quieter/smaller.

The radeon 5830 and geforce GTX 465 are failures, best avoided.

They are both built with reject chips from the top end cards with half the shaders disabled.  This means they got all the worst bits (power usage, cost, noise) with none of the best bits (performance).

The 5830 is only slightly faster then a 4870 - a 2 year old card that cost about £100 a year ago.
The GTX 465 is a bit quicker (although no faster then say a 4890) but costs a lot (£200ish) and requires almost as much power as a GTX480.

The GTX 260 is a bit different.  It uses a new design of fermi and a new smaller chip - built to be an upper mid range graphics chip, not a monster gpu compute one that can also do graphics.  Check out the reviews - there are lots of them.

I'm currently debating weither i should go for the gtx460 or the 5850.
As i'm playing games on 1900x1200 i'm assuming i'm gonna need the 1gb version instead of the 786mb one.

Humbug what pulled you over the line to go for the 5850 in the end?

As for price differences in holland:               cheapest price:            price at a known webshop i trust:
Asus ENGTX460/2DI/768MD5                      190 euro                     197 euro
Gainward GTX 460 1GB GS                          230 euro                     230 euro
Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E              260 euro                     273 euro

Don't they think they ship outside UK though, and on the other hand it's easier to have a dutch store if I end up having to send it back for warranty or whatever.

oh right, only just realised you posted that as his reasoning behind him buying it :P

I didnt get the job i thought i would do. So once again i have to put plans on hold :(

I fucking hate my life sometimes and just want a frikkin break and be able to get a proper job. Fuck this shit :(

So in summation, I dont need a rig priced up any more due to lack of lack of spare funds... >_<

@erniecool

i would of gone for the 460 i think if it wasnt for the good price i got on the 5850 as the 460 isn't too far behind the 5850 especially given that people say the 460 is an overclockers dream.
