i found mines and smart bomb a great way of surviving - you hit your 1 key and everythings clear^^

Found another very effective class.
Vegas + flame thrower + ammo + power fist

Use the flame thrower to set everything alight, and if anything gets close one punch and it's dead.  Vegas's big melee and health bonuses make him the person use for this + his lack of damage doesn't matter with a flame thrower - once it's alight it's doomed.

thats basically the way i play engy 
just replace ammo with an SG or an extra weapon from time to time

btw chainsaw-fist-healgun medic is awesome... would have mad it through a hard mission if i werent shot by my teammates...
