Another task for the first page: with the migration from the old map we have lost our portal infrastructure at Erebor. However, this gives us a chance to build a proper new one with portals to the most frequented parts of the mountain, all arranged in an orderly fashion.

Up until now we had most portals down below, but imho one at the back of the mountain, one in the living quarters, one or two in industrial and of course several dotted at the very top to the very bottom (including the mines) would make the mountain (and ressources to build it) so much more accessible. We could even go so far and build them behind hidden doors in case that some won't be needed anymore after completion.

Most of my horses wandered off  in Erebors vicinity, but it'd be a shame losing the sheep farm.

But if it has to be, it has to be. We can always tame new animals.

I know JC ran into a few issues with space because things were close.

related, I'm not convinced we should have a shopping district right at spawn.  Within convenient walking distance of spawn (possibly via the nether), maybe. But it takes up a ton of room and feels a bit too like personal buildings to me.

Convince me!

How about just that? Personal stores and whatnot in the Nether :D

There just needs to be a proper perimeter set, good lighting and there we go - and we could build from the very top of the nether to the bottom - including mob farms, regular farms, shooting galleries, a mob onslaught minigame,...

I'd like to help build a new spawn before going back to project (if that all works out... Or not I guess ha ha.)

I think we should have a marked out grid of roads for spawn. Have say 400 square (200 blocks in every direction) that is spawn only and no one owns, maybe more? I think there were some issues on the current map with regards to people building next to spawn and effectively limiting it.

Underground shops again but with a strict unit system (like a shopping centre) and we can try and keep it simple. I think we had some issues with space and it being crazy to find a way around. I'd love a similar ravine again for main drag. Perhaps have spawn over that on a bridge, be an awesome hello to the server sight.

Anyway, discuss!

Oh and is there a more extreme extreme hills? I chose that one... Revine partly made already!

Perhaps stores in the flanks of the mountains, with lots and lots of bridges connecting them? That way we would also have a better view of the surrounding areas, and even if somebody decides to build ginormously tall buildings in the direct vicinity it does not look too bad. But that should also be considered: a building height limit in sight of spawn?

And what size would biomes be? Do we go for the huge biomes type or the standard small ones? Maybe declare the spawn biome the boundary? Or have a Spawn Fortress/Jungle Temple/Water Monument?

Ah, the possibilities...

Yeah, no Inventories or enderchests (which would also be additional work, I assume?).
If necessary, I'd even work my way back to Erebor from the starting point with the same starting conditions everyone has. Might even be fun  :D

On a side note on the transfer: Erebor is oriented to the south - I dont really mind the surrounding biome, but the entrance should still be facing southwards, preferably on the direct line to spawn. Thus, 10000 blocks straight to the north would be great. Give or take a few hundred forward or backwards on that line, but with the entrance lined up properly.

I can provide an orientation and some corners to cut out the area if needed.

It'd be far too much work to try to find the right seed with the right biomes in the right places...

...which is why I plan on asking you guys what you want and I'll admin override it ;)

I am fine with this solution. I just have one more thing to ask (and I'm almost certain somebody thought of this already): Could we have Erebor and perhaps the other builds in a fitting biome?

As far as I'm aware of there is only snow in certain heights in certain biomes, and our mountain might look a little odd in a huge desert.

Apart from that: Thanks a lot for this opportunity.

I got myself an Elytra (loooots of searching the end) and gave it another shot at Erebor, but it/they? seem to glitch - I cant access any chests anymore (or extremely late after clicking), my inventory is bugged and I randomly take random amounts of damage. Restarting didn't help.

It's like really, really bad lag, but the connection on my end is fine. Is it possible that the server doesn't like people flying around?

I'd really appreciate a fix... all in all, it's minecraft-tuesday   :-[

How useful would Princess Elsa from Frozen's ice powers be? No more falling in lava ever again, and making ice palaces would be easy!

They actually implemented that in 1.9 - the frostwalker enchantment.

Works on water, should work on lava as well  ;)

If you really want to fight the ender dragon you should be well aware of the risks of losing stuff - same with AFK-ing in dangerous places. I'm almost certain there was a rule stating exactly this.

We always used to do that ender dragon thing together :(
