Have used rift, galaxy gear, google cardboard at work.  Not seen a vive yet.  Imo rift was still very beta would give it a while before splashing cash.

Galaxy gear is the most polished, but it's more limited in what it can do - just a toy to show your friends, not something you would seriously use a lot.

All have the potential to make you feel varying amounts of sick, depending on how prone you are to that sort of thing and the game you are playing.

Personally I'll wait a while and see how it all pans out.  Like most fads it's got a pretty good chance of dying a death in a year or two, but if it doesn't and the hardware and software continues to improve I might be tempted...

I'm not dead either, but don't really play any games that NE play a lot now.  Mostly playing smite at the moment.

http://www.pcgamer.com/uk/2014/05/08/new-unreal-tournament-game-will-be-free-developed-by-epic-and-ut-community/

In short:
-UT4 will be an open source community developed game, not done by Epic alone but with Epic dev team helping.
-UT4 will be free, but the community can make mods or different games and charge if they want in which case Epic gets a cut which is how they will make their money.

This sounds really good, Epic make a great games engine but pretty naff games.  Even UT2004 was a UT2003 mod not initially developed by Epic.  Now for UT4 they provide the engine and hopefully we'll get a load of good games off it as people invent them.  Big boost for PC market too as small time devs are going to invent for that first as it's much easier and cheaper then if it works maybe port to consoles later.

Hardware / Re: New build

Personally I'd go with the more expensive cpu - they are more work to upgrade then graphics and last a lot longer.  I got a 2500K a few years ago now and o/c it's still faster then any standard (non o/c cpu), my graphics card however has already been changed once and is getting a bit old now.

I'd also get a bigger SSD if you can - 128gb is nothing.  Out and out performance doesn't matter much - they are all so blindingly fast that it doesn't make much difference.  Size and reliability key.

Your Reviews / Re: Something for the reviews

Shame you can't reply under the review.  I played lots of hawken a few months back, not been on recently - got the odd lvl 25 mech.  It was good fun and is actually pretty high skill for what at first seems a game with mechs moving really slowly.  The movement has a touch of unreal too it with the boosts, spins and dodges, and is tricky to do well.  Tactics and map control also key.

On the down side when I played the big servers were all in the US so 200+ ping.  It can also be a bit repetitive after a while.  Still the mechs feel big and powerful and the grind to upgrade not too bad.

If you get into it worth checking forums for codes - I must have got over 20k of the pay-for premium in game money from codes.

AMD 290. Bit more expensive than a 770 but much cheaper than a 780 and outperforms it. :D

Not till you can get them with an aftermarket cooler - they AMD stock one just can't hack it.  That card is going to pull 300W so needs a very good cooler, good case cooling and a power supply up for the job.  Great card for the money however.

Congrats!!!

That said I heard female panda's were about the most grumpy mates in the animal kingdom and are only interested in the male a few days a year?  Very cute kids though :)

The BBC is blocking BBC content to people in the uk?  I saw this at work which believe or not connects to the interweb in America so never knew.

Not that it should stop anyone - just use something like http://www.zerotunnel.com and then put the url into that (http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20131030-can-you-guess-the-star-cars).  Page loads a bit slower but it works fine.

Shame they didn't give you a score.  Only got about half which is a bit rubbish particularly after hovering over knew I should have got nearly all of them.

I use http://www.steamgamesales.com/ to keep an eye out for any bargains, quicker then using steam itself.  See borderlands 2 is half price, might wait till theirs a game of the year version with all the expansions though (almost certain to be some great deal this Xmas).

Probably loads of restrictions as publishers still want you to buy the games.  What it does mean is if you are away for a few days you can let someone play your games without recking your saves.  Or if 2 share one machine then both can login as themselves with their own keyboard binds and reputations and play the same games.
