Games nE Play / Love self flagellation? - you should try Super Hexagon
« on: February 22, 2013, 11:47:06 AM »

Just got this yesterday, and for those who like stupidly hard games this one is pretty addictive.

Playing this on my nexus 7 (think you can get it for most platforms including PC) so far I have managed a pretty embarrassing 15 seconds.  What's your record?

Incidentally it can be done - theirs a youtube video of the guy who wrote the game completing it.

Got son a 780 for xmas - it works well.  Easy set-up, voice is very clear, sound is good.

Monitors are always a bit of a minefield cause the spec's often don't tell you much.  Are the colours accurate?  How smooth is it?  How much input lag does it have?  What are the viewing angles like

Depends a lot on your priorities and how you use it.  Personally for gaming I'd only consider a true 120hz one (i.e. takes 120hz dual dvi input) with really low input lag even if it sacrifices a bit on colours and viewing angles but that's just my priority.

For those thinking about mechanical keyboards I got a Corsair Vengeance K60 last year - much cheaper then the razer, light keys with a very fast response (cherry mx black switches are the best switches for fps imo).  It's not noisy either.  However it's pretty basic and misses out on all the razer's flashyness and back lighting.

16gb 7 for £160 is a complete bargain - would recommend that to anyone.

Would go for an intel cpu - the phenom 2 is pretty ancient tech.  Even if you only get a core i3 right now then you have an upgrade path to eventually stick in a much faster unlocked i2700k one day.  i3 is faster for games then any phenom anyway.

Got a 128gb crucial m4 and had no problems with it.  OCZ has a bad reputation for reliability.

Games nE Play / PAYDAY: The Heist

Could alternatively be known as "L4D: The robbery"

Got this recently and thought I would recommend it.  It's built on L4D engine only instead of escaping zombies you are escaping police as you try to pull of the ultimate robbery - so same 4 player co-op gameplay.  Each of the missions has you trying to a number of things, e.g. find bank manager, get key, kill cameras, drill volt, thermite into main vault, escape out the back.  Stopping you are lots of police, guards, etc that in a very L4D way keep appearing in waves.  All the missions are pretty different and have a bit of humour (including one in mercy hospital complete with twitching corpse bags).

You can take hostages and that allows you to bargain back any captured team mates (i.e. if police *kill* you).  It has 3 class trees that you unlock as you gain money from your heists which give out different guns and so on.

Anyway if you like L4D but got a bit bored and want a new take on it, then I recommend giving this a go :)
