A HUGE problem!

Something has come to light and it's such a massive problem I'm not sure I can even bring myself to post about it, it really is such a massive issue that I think it needs dealing with immediately!

I was perusing my friends list earlier, looking for Enef to send a message to and I couldn't find him.....hmmmm strange I thought.

On closer inspection I realised his tag, and others, had no space before his name!  I mean can you believe it?  Some of the clan have '.:ne:.name' and some have '.:ne:. name' The steam friends list then decides that a space is alphabetically superior to a letter or symbol and messes with the order of people on the list.

This simply cannot be allowed to continue.  It's an absolute disgrace tbh.  What would our mothers think?  Imagine if your dad found out!  You'd be for it then, I can tell ya.  For now I shall adopt the, slightly more common, convention of 'nospace', however we really need a uniform tag/name boundary, or all hell will break loose, you mark my words!

I was taught two spaces as well, but I always use 1 space in MS word, as there's a formatting option for making it look like 2 spaces if you want.  That way I can alter it depending on the opinion of whoever I'm writing it for.

So you send an email asking wether they like single or double spaces at sentence end, but is that email itself single or double spaced?  I sense an infinitum of spaces!

It's a pet peeve of mine. Two spaces are an artifact of mono-width fonts and type setting. It hasn't been correct or acceptable with modern variable width fonts and computing for some time and in fact wrecks a lot of formatting in publication.

@monkey: when i first noticed this little gap between the tag and you (which was quite a while ago) i started asking several people, who all had no space in between. and 85% of the ne people in my list didn't have one as well, so i adopted the little nospace and got used to it.
