Reserved Slots?
« on: July 09, 2010, 11:16:17 am »
I got kicked from our pub today, several times. Message:

"Disconnected. Dropped due to slot reservation."

there was no one, and i repeat, no one from .:ne:., |ne or any other one in there whom i ever seen before. so: WHY the heck do we need reserved slots, if not for .:ne:. match players?

oh, and on a side note - engy limit 3 for a week?

Match players don't get perks, only contribs :p
That being said, it's not meant to kick people of they're already playing...

What solution?

shame that a ne member cant even join the own server, because its full with achievement XXXXXX. that was the basic thought behind this thread.

No member of ne gets any privs without donating and afaik the plugin doesn't kick those already in the server. perhaps the issue id that as you are joining someone with a decent computer joins and manages to get the last slot.

Easy solution, start donating.

Are you joining via the console/custom menu peacekeeper? This method allows you to connect to the server, even if there is already 24 players playing - if you are then not entitled to a reserved slot, you will see this message.

If you were kicked in the middle of a game, then it will be because the update has broken something.

yup

2010-07-09 11:11:01:   81.19.221.201:22000 - E002: ".:ne:.Peacekeeper" <P:58556,U:229,W:1:17915436,T:> entered the game
2010-07-09 11:11:01:   81.19.221.201:22000 - E003: ".:ne:.Peacekeeper" <P:58556,U:229,W:1:17915436,T:Unassigned> disconnected (reason "Dropped to due to slot reservation")

there are 26 slots on the server.  24 are visible and anyone can join them.  The other 2 are hidden and for reserved slot access only.  If you force the game to connect, and the server is 24/24, you will join in one of the reserved slots, and get kicked.  This can also happen if it's 23/24, and 2 people try to join in the 24th slot at once - on will end up in the 25th

(The idle servers work differently - there's 31 visible slots and 1 reserved, whenever someone joins using reserved it kicks someone from the server so the player count stays at 31/31 - that way, as many contribs as possible can use the idle servers.  But the proper gaming servers are designed not to kick someone who's already playing)

Although the server was showing 23/24, it was actually at 24/24, as the server browser/info only updates periodically. Unfortunately, someone beat you to the final slot.

Nothing's changed, nothing's broken, and nothing needs to be fixed.
