go go 4xTesla guns! It doesn't use mana until you hit aliens or destructible's :P Mad amount of ammo and chains to other aliens. :P
tesla hasn't much range - and it's the range that you need sometimes

technician: tesla + prototype rifle - electricity AND stun grenades, + range & melee bonus  :D

The only way a competitive game of Alien Swarm would work is if it was set to insane difficulty and to measure the times taken to complete each mission.

Tier 1 of the competition would be the first stage, tier 2 the second etc.

This would require 2 things, a sourceTV slot on a Alien Swarm and a SourceMOD that unlocks everything for everyone or something similair.

The higher level people always have the advantage, so it would never be a fair competition so you need to figure out a way to unlock everything for everyone.

Sounds good, looking forward to it.

It's not hard to level up by the way, so the unlocks shouldn't be a problem by the time this happens?

insane difficulty for beginners? well... ok..

even hard is pretty challenging sometimes, i think we should make an "easy" tournament with easy/normal difficulty and a "hard" one.
and in case of a draw (2 teams same points) we (I, or any other mapmaker) could build a map that is all about staying alive, e.g. a hill you have to defend, with infinite swarms of aliens coming from all directions - the team surviving the longes wins.
just my 2 pence


EDIT: we should get a forum/subforum for this if we want to expand it a bit (leagues, tips, hints etc)

asw_fast_reload_under_marine 1

Places a fast reload bar under your actual marine so you don't need to look in the corner to time your reload. Or rely on the poor cursor fast reload bar.

exec 360_controller_pc.cfg

enables Xbox 360 controller support.

server side commands:

asw_custom_skill_points 1

If used before people connect to the game, the host is allowed to spend points on the Marines' stats. Disclaimer: Not really supported or well balances, use at own risk.

asw_horde_override 1

Enables an AI director like in L4D.

asw_horde_class asw_parasite

Enables the AI director to spawn parasites (scary!)

Wondering if people out there willing to play Insane mode. Getting bored of 'hard' mode and was hoping to get a load of experienced players together to rape through the game. You need 2 medics usually and a lot of aoe + tesla + Shotgun and usually 2-3 SGs to get through the first 2 levels. (thats as far as i managed to get) :)

+1 I'd try insane. 

Still working on what class combo's work best.

The one I am very confident of is Wolfe + PDF + autogun + damage amp.  Run around with the already very high damage PDF, then in chokes chuck down the damage amp and the autogun efficiently mows down everything.

Agree telsa is great a but damage and range is low.  Ideal for the tech + medic as it allows them to hide behind (and in the damage amp) of the tougher special weapon's + leader players and still do a lot of good as it doesn't ff.
